LOTS OF FUN GOING ON AT C.A.T.!
| We're getting ready for
our annual "CAT"apult Into Summer Sale
and need your help. As in past years we're
accepting donations of items to sell in our
annual thrift sale. So if you've done your spring
cleaning consider bringing those items to us to
sell! It's one of our biggest fundraisers and
very popular with bargain hunters. We are accepting donations of items like books, CDs, videos, decoratives, kitchen items, small working appliances, furniture, and toys. (Please, no clothes, shoes, or parts of things like craft kits.) Drop off for items will be Saturday, May 31st from 1-3 p.m. Volunteers will be available to help carry donations. For more details on the sale watch for our upcoming newsletter. |

C.A.T. is celebrating 20
years with lots of fun stuff. First up is our
Fill the Bank project. We've found some adorable
ceramic kitty banks and we're on a quest to fill
20 of them this year. If you shop at C.A.T. or
just feel like visiting, drop some change in the
bank. Bring in that spare change, and each time
you add to the collection, you get a chance to
win the bank! (Just the bank, not the money in
the bank.) We don't know how much money can be
raised filling 20 of these cute little banks, but
it should be fun finding out! So dig in those
sofas, empty your pockets of that heavy change
and stop on in to fill the bank! We've given away 3 banks so far and raised $151! Keep it coming! |
| We've also made a change
to our membership program. It's now just a buck a
month to become a C.A.T. member. Just $12 for the
whole year and you're signed up for our free
newsletter and our two mystery shopping weeks.
Become a member and you're eligible to draw for a
surprise discount the first week of July for our
birthday and the week before Christmas. You could
get a discount for your shopping from 5% to 50%!
(Sorry, doesn't include Hill's Science Diet Pet
Food.) So join up and join us for our mystery

Did you play poker with us
this spring? It's time to turn in your poker
hand! Five lucky winners with the best hand will
win our custom deck of playing cards! Not sure
what a winning hand would be? We can help you
find out. Just bring in your playing cards that
you've collected and we'll compare them against
our poker chart. You could be a winner! Poker cards can be turned in until June 28th! |
SPAY DAY USA 2008! VOUCHERS ARE STILL AVAILABLE!

C.A.T. is participating in Spay Day USA this year, a national campaign of the Humane Society of the United States, by handing out 100 vouchers good for $25 towards spays/neuters. It will help pet owners get their pets to the vet and promote the life-saving benefits of spay/neuter. It is a great opportunity to help with the Humane Society’s efforts to spread the word about the importance of reducing pet overpopulation through this national awareness holiday. Several vets in Topeka have joined with us in this special program to honor the vouchers. So if you have a pet that needs be spay/neutered, or know someone with a pet in need, stop by C.A.T. and get your voucher! |
CELEBRATING 20 YEARS!

It's hard to believe it's
already been 20 years for C.A.T. Here we are,
though, looking back at all the cats we've
helped, all the ways we've grown and expanded,
all the ways we've reached out, and all the
wonderful people we've met. We're starting our celebration with a new tshirt design and poster available to order from our online store. We've got the poster on display at the shelter, and it's even available for sale. We've also got some great looking tshirts! So stop by to visit, and keep checking back for more celebration fun! |
OAT GRASS AVAILABLE EVERY FRIDAY!
Oat grass is a delicious and irresistable treat that cats love. Many people have noticed cats' tendencies to eat grass when they are outside, or their fascination with chewing indoor plants. It is believed that grass helps provide cats with fiber and necessary vitamin folic acid they don't get from a mostly meat diet. Oat grass is safe, tasty and nutritious! Just ask our shelter cats who get a regular treat of it every week!
C.A.T. gets a fresh supply every Friday around noon. So stop by and get some for your cat to try. Come early! It sells out quickly!
WISH LIST EMAIL ALERTS - A GREAT HELP!
We have many kind volunteers and donors who supply some of our more basic needs, like paper towels, clay litter, trash bags, and other items. You can find our wish list on the "How You Can Help C.A.T. page." We've now added a wish list alert email to let willing volunteers know when we have an emergency shortage. If you'd like to be on this list, which is completely confidential, just send us an email to wishlist@topekacat.org. When we find we're running low on something we'll send out an alert so people know when we most need little friendly help.
Why not keep some of those items on your grocery shopping list? It's an easy way to help us care for the kitties and stretch our dollars a little more. We've had four alerts so far and the response was great! Thanks to everyone who has helped out!
GREAT DEALS AT THE CATTY SHACK!
The Catty Shack has had a slow start, but we're still having fun with the wonderful merchandise available. People who have bought some of the items have loved the designs. We also have some new designs up. In the meantime, we have dropped prices on the current items. We have also ordered several of the items to be available at the shelter, including our latest sweatshirt design!
